After layer upon layer of thin colors, this eagle in watercolor is finished!
8 x 10 inches, created on Arches 140 lb. Cold Press paper using Winsor & Newton watercolor paints; Thanks to Birgit Meyer for the reference photo.
One of my favorite parts is removing the masking tape around the edges.
This painting will be revealed to the public at the North Penn Holiday Craft Show on November 17, 2018. Click HERE for more information about the show.

Excellent painting. The eyes especially you have captured so well. I am interested to know why you opt for cold press when working in such fine detail – wouldn’t hot press be a better choice?
Rebecca Rhodes says
Thank you Pat! Hot Press would be perfectly fine, and I use it for smaller paintings. I prefer Cold Press for softening and working wet in wet, both of which were used much of the time in this painting.
